Epistemology

Epistemology is the theory of knowledge, especially with regard to its methods, validity, and scope, and the distinction between justified belief and opinion. It is concerned with the mind's relation to reality. What is it for this relation to be one of knowledge? Do we know things? And if we do, how and when do we know things?

Epistemology is considered a major subfield of philosophy, along with other major subfields such as ethics, logic, and metaphysics.
